Good afternoon students. It is a new session once again and we are glad to have you freshmen among us.

We expect you to give your best throughout your stay here and you can be assured that all hands are on deck to make sure that you excel.

Briefly, I just want to introduce our campus layout to you, so that you find it easier to navigate your way around.

The first point to take note of is that we have three major streets and one river on campus.

We have the Longman Street, the New Street and the King Street. We also have the Queen River, which cuts across every street except the King Street.

1To the east of King Street and to the south of New Street, there are two buildings, the building next to Queen River is the art centre where you get all sorts of exhibitions and creativity recognized and celebrated.

You have heard of the great Nicholas Treur?

Well, he attended this school and the art centre was his home for most of his stay.

He was almost always drawing or creating something. He is an inspiration for a lot of students, he would be speaking at your welcome seminar next week. Make sure you pay attention to all that he says.

2On the north side of New Street, close to the river, we also have two buildings. One of the buildings which contains the swimming pool, is to the left of Queen River.

The swimming pool is among our recent additions to the campus and it is simply breathtaking. As a matter of fact, it is up to the Olympic standard for swimming pools.

3The building, still on the north side of New Street, to the right of Queen River facing the building on east Longman Street is the bowling alley, which is also one of the recently constructed buildings on campus.

It also has a mini cinema for those of you who might love to see movies sometime.

4When you look at the large building in the southwestern corner of the map, that is the library.

It used to be at the northwestern corner of the map, we relocated it because it was too far from the classroom buildings.

The library is one of the largest in the state and it is well stocked with as many books as possible and I advise you to spend a lot of your time there.

There are various activities students can choose from. For those who love reading, the environment there is very conducive. Everyone can read there anytime and any day.

But please remember that you will have to pay a fine if you return the books late.

5Ice skating is allowed on campus and adults are allowed to bring just a guest with no charge.

To enroll however you would have to see the skate coach at the sports office, which is just down this road.

6Swimming pool is also available for everyone as long as you have a swimsuit.

7Also, anyone who doesn’t wear a swimming cap will not be allowed to use the pool.

Some students ask if they need to bring a towel, well, I don’t think that’s necessary.

8Bowling as an activity only permits beginners to participate as the classes available now are all elementary.

Once you become experienced players, you will have the opportunity to attend the advanced course next year. For bowling you don’t need any special clothes.

9Instead, casual clothes will be enough for you to do this activity. The sport needs as much free movement as you can afford. The last activity is cooking.

It is allowed for everyone. We don’t require you to be a chef or something, as it is not a competition.

10But if you lack some basic skills, then I don’t recommend this activity.

We need to be certain that you would not burn a house down or create 'burnt offerings'.

So please, we expect every one of you to be good students and represent yourself and your families …
